In fitting with the latest developments made to the Compendle web application it was felt that the website to support the web application needed a face-lift. The website was dated, didn’t talk about the best bits of the web application and was time-consuming when coming to update it.
The website was redeveloped on a content management system (CMS) allowing non-developers to maintain the website with very little effort. Umbraco, an open-source .NET CMS was used the support the content management side of the website and amongst other features inherently created search engine friendly URLs for better search engine visibility.
The look and feel of the website was given a complete overhaul in-line with the web application and the interface designs made use of the 960 Grid System that was also used for producing the HTML and CSS structure. This allowed for a more consistent look and feel throughout the website whilst maintaining flexibility.
‘Feature boxes’ that appear throughout the website in the left and right columns are customised and positioned using functionality worked into the CMS, and the Compendle web application has been integrated seamlessly with Umbraco.
