MicroID

All websites that I currently have administration rights for (boardstupid, Scoutunit, Content Incorporated CMS and scottmallinson.co.uk) have had MicroIDs added to their meta information. The purpose of a MicroID is to claim intellectual property for the webpage or website you have created by including the following tag in the section of a webpage:

meta content="c70bff84055a41c732b19c55bb48dbe90200585f" name="microid"

The content=”" value varies depending on the website you are wanting to claim, thereby creating a unique value for each website on the internet. ClaimID state in their blog that they plan to integrate MicroID link verification into ClaimID as well as the ability to check the link status for the webpages you claimed.

I think ClaimID is a very useful tool, and although I jumped the gun in an earlier post I’ll try and keep updated on any developments. It will certainly make the task of identifying the ownership of websites a lot easier and the web designers/developers will get the recognition they deserve.
