Play.com Live

Play.com Live logoLast weekend I attended the Play.com Live exhibition held at the Wembley Stadium. A large crowd turned out for both Saturday and Sunday and the exhibition soon filled up.

I was able to play some the latest games expected to hit the shelves later this year. Most of the games consoles, Wii, XBox 360 and PS3 were connected up to HD-TV’s so we could experience the games at their best quality. Goodie bags were handed out which contained DVD’s, marketing material, key-rings and books and several competitions ran for various games console related prizes.

Whilst the exhibition was promoted as the UK’s largest video game exhibition, if you were expecting something similar to the E3 exhibition held in America you will have been disappointed. At most you could have spent either a morning or afternoon browsing the stands and playing on the games. I would have found it difficult to spend a full day there, especially when you weren’t allowed to take in your own food or drink.

There were a few photo opportunities with the likes of Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who fame, and Danny John-Jules, Hattie Hayridge and Robert Llewellyn of Red Dwarf fame. Iain Lee and Gemma Atkinson also appeared as compères.

I would certainly go again, though I would prefer to know the itinerary for the weekend in advance (you could only get a programme for the exhibition on the day).
