One week on

So it has been a week since I first announced here on my website that I have been made redundant and I thought I’d let you all know what has happened and changed since then.

My last working day was last Friday and there was a good turnout to send me off. I was sad to leave, especially given that it wasn’t on my terms but I understand the reasons behind it and there’s no bad blood at all. My former employee gave me a great opportunity, I’ve learnt some great skills and I’ve made some great friends as a result.

The past few days have been spent working on freelance projects, and whilst I am happily taking on any freelance work that comes my way there isn’t sufficient work for me to rely on freelance alone as a means of income.

I have also been working on my CV; updating and uploading it to the recruitment websites that still persist in spamming me some two years after turning to them for help in finding a job after graduating from university. Whilst I am loathed to using recruitment agents to find a job (been there, done that, got my fingers burned) I am open to receiving suggestions where to look (please send me a tweet).

The position that I am looking for is focussed on front-end web development; (X)HTML, CSS, usability, accessibility and web design rather than ‘back-end’ developing.
