Compendle.com gets a facelift

The last project I worked on whilst at MyKnowledgeMap has just this week been released. The new Compendle website has gone live and I’d love to hear what you think to it.

The previous website was beginning to look out-dated by the Compendle web application it promotes and so with a new lick of paint and a fiery new CMS behind it, we used the Umbraco open-source .NET CMS the new website has soon sprung into life.

For those of you who don’t know what Compendle is, let me enlighten you.

Compendle is a new tool which makes it easy for anybody to create exciting, standards-based courses from a wide range of electronic resources.

If you work with e-learning on a day-to-day basis then Compendle is the tool for you as it makes the whole experience of creating exciting, standards-based courses much more fun and engaging than it has even been before.

It looks great.

Just can’t help feeling there’s something missing.

Looks like something that wraps some Scorm stuff around a bunch of files. Not sure why.

Just happened by this post and noticed the comment questioning the reasoning behind Compendle and thought I might be able to provide some clarification. Our primary aim with Compendle was to create a tool which would allow tutors and trainers with basic IT skills to create standards-based courses quickly and easily.

Tutors and trainers can use Compendle to gather all the relevant learning resources in Compendle and then structure their course in a way that suits them (eg. by week, subject, group of learners). Courses can then be published in a number of ways and are compatible with online learning environments like Moodle and Blackboard. This allows tutors and trainers to offer their learners access to their courses over their intranet as and when they need to.

Recently, we have added new authoring functionality to Compendle which allows people to create their own e-learning. Again, our emphasis has been on offering all the necessary functionality in a user-friendly framework. Any e-learning authored in Compendle can be fully customised and packaged with a Compendle course. You can learn more about it on http://www.compendle.com/features/create.aspx.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.
